Terms of Use
Last updated 14 September 2026
Sakina is a tool that helps you protect your prayers from your phone. It is not a religious authority, and it is not a security product. Please read what it does and does not promise.
1. Who you are agreeing with
These terms are between you and Devjoy Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Sakina you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.
2. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Sakina on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, sell, rent, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
3. Subscriptions and payment
Sakina is free to use. Every feature — the prayer-time blocking, the streaks, the Qibla and the full Qur'an — works without paying anything. Sakina Pro is an optional purchase that supports development; declining it costs you no functionality.
- Sakina Pro Monthly — billed every month.
- Sakina Pro Yearly — billed every 12 months.
- Sakina Pro Lifetime — a single payment, with nothing to renew.
Prices are shown in your local currency inside the app before you buy, and vary by country. Payment is taken by Apple through your Apple Account.
No free trial
Sakina does not offer a free trial, because it does not need one: the app is free to use in full. Nothing converts into a charge on you, and nothing starts billing unless you deliberately buy a plan.
Renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Your Apple Account is charged within 24 hours before the current period ends. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds
Purchases are made through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves, though we are happy to help you ask.
4. Prayer times are a calculation, not a fatwa
Sakina computes prayer times on your device from your location, the calculation method and the Asr madhab you choose. Methods legitimately disagree, and the result depends on your settings, your location accuracy and your device clock. Sakina is not a religious authority. Where precision matters — Ramadan, the boundaries of a window, an unusual latitude — follow your local masjid or scholarly authority rather than this app. We do not adjudicate matters of fiqh, and the app never generates religious rulings.
The Qur'an text is bundled as-is from a published source. Marking a prayer as prayed, or a portion as read, is an honour-system record you keep for yourself. It is not worship, not a substitute for it, and not verified by anyone.
5. App blocking has limits
Blocking uses Apple's Screen Time framework, and works within what iOS allows. It is a commitment device, not a security control. It can be undone — by changing your selection, revoking Screen Time permission, or deleting the app — and it may be affected by iOS updates or system behaviour outside our control. Do not rely on it where being blocked, or not blocked, would be genuinely unsafe.
Sakina deliberately locks apps a few minutes after the adhan rather than at the instant it sounds, so a shield never lands on top of whatever you are already doing. Even so, please do not rely on the app to stay unblocked during anything critical.
6. Acceptable use
Use Sakina lawfully, and do not attempt to interfere with it, circumvent its payment, or use it to restrict another person's device without their knowledge and consent.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Sakina working and to keep improving it, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we discontinue the app entirely while you hold an unexpired subscription, you may seek a pro-rata refund through Apple.
8. Liability
Sakina is provided "as is" to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for missed prayers, missed notifications, inaccurate prayer times, apps that failed to block or failed to unblock, or any indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights, and nothing here affects them. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for Sakina. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use must comply with the App Store Terms of Service.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what the app stores and what little of it ever leaves your device. It forms part of these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
